FAQ's – what is hypnotherapy?

What does hypnotherapy feel like?
During hypnotherapy you are pleasantly relaxed and your eyes are closed. It is a naturally occurring state of mind. You can even go into a light hypnotic state yourself by imagining a relaxing scene or a happy memory in detail. In a deeper state your awareness is heightened and your vision is more focused and accurate.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Everyone is susceptible to hypnosis just to differing degrees, only a small percentage of the population are low in susceptibility, and there are validated tools from Harvard and Stanford Universities to measure one’s susceptibility. The majority of people can be hypnotised. However no one can be hypnotised against their will (only in the movies!)
Is it possible to get stuck in hypnosis?
This idea comes from stage shows which are staged for entertainment value and is certainly not true of clinical hypnosis.
Will I be asleep or unconscious?
People can sometimes look like they are asleep or unconscious whilst in Hypnosis. Actually your awareness is heightened by trance which is a highly absorbed state of mind experienced by people when they meditate.
Is Hypnotherapy safe, will I be vulnerable when I am hypnotised?
These fears are all myths brought about by television and movies. You would not accept any suggestions that go against your moral or ethical beliefs. Hypnotherapy was approved by the UK’s leading professional medical body. The BMA reviewed the practice of clinical hypnosis in 1955 and declared it an integrative practice, one that can be incorporated alongside standard medical disciplines. It endorsed the practice of hypnosis in medical school education. There are no harmful side-effects.
What can Hypnotherapy and NLP help with?
It is helpful for Stress, Anxiety or Depression and sleep problems such as Insomnia, Irritable bowel syndrome, IBS, weight loss and Gastric Band Hypnotherapy, phobias and habits or stopping smoking to name only a few.
What is NLP (neuro-linguistic-programming)?
It is the language of the mind which explains how thoughts actions and feelings work together to produce an experience. It is based on the study of human excellence and promotes a powerful and practical approach to positive change and achievement. Put simply it is rather like having an instruction manual for how the mind works. Trained NLP practitioners can help people to:

  • relieve traumas or phobias
  • have more positive feelings and confidence
  • perform better at work or in exams
  • change life long habits such as smoking
  • resolve inner conflicts

Hypnotherapy and NLP can help you improve your life and find your goals and know how to achieve them.

How much does it cost?
